This was known soon after we patched, I screwed up with these as the stacking penalty is not enough and as pointed out, ships with lots of low/hi slots and cpu (aka the rokh) can stack the bonus to the point where it beats the hulk with only 2 low slots though this is with the best metas which are really rare in distribution so very much a hypothetical exercise at this point however it does need fixing and shall be.

As follow up, the correct bonuses will be applied in Revelations 2.2 (our next static data patch) which will apply to the meta mining and ice harvesting upgrades. They all follow a similar bonus pattern from meta level 1 to 4 increasing the bonus by 1% per lvl from 5% for the tech 1 to 9% for the best meta level item.
So who wins the mining heavyweight belt?
Hulk fitting 2 aeode 9% mining upgrades with 3 modulated strip miner II and the very finest in tech 2 mining crystals with its standard small shield booster, 2 passive tech 2 shield hardners and a cap recharger.
Rokh fitting 8 miner II, 5 carpo 8% mining upgrades with no cpu left for anything in med slots and using a processor overclocking unit I rig.
Figures
Hulk specialised mining rate: 1529.99 * 3 lasers = 4589.97 / 180 = 25.50m3 sec.
Rokh mining rate = 116.17 * 8 = 934.16 / 60 = 15.57m3 sec
Why the big change in bonus?
The modules as they are went out with incorrect bonuses and whilst the ice harvesting meta upgrades do work and provide a rather uber and overpowered bonus currently. The new bonuses are much more sensible. In terms of payoff, you would make an average 13% more income per hour mining veldspar over using the 5% tech 1 upgrades so it will pay of eventually for those of you wondering if it is a worthwhile investment. In line with the bonus change the drop rate as been increased slightly.
Tech 2 upgrades?
they will come in revelations 2.2 as well as an inventible item.
Now back to the ore capital ship for me

mining amount is stacking nerfed on mining upgrades, as is duration for ice harvesting upgrades. Even industrial bonuses must fall under the same rules that govern other similar types of modules like weapon upgrades.
The 13% figure was indeed wrong and something I forgot to update previously which I have done now. Thanks for pointing it out.

So here I am watching the red sunset at the office out of my window at just after midnight and for the first time in a few days able to catch up with the forums. Having read the constructive feedback which I have always highly valued.
I think to myself after plugging away in excel that perhaps a stacking nerf is too much despite the fact that when it comes to barges the effect is small on two low slots (1.175 versus 1.1881 with 2 aoedes) but significantly affects three upgrades or more (ie anything but a barge). Though on the flip side I look at the league table of best mining rates and see the Rokh sat in forth only above the covetor using strip miners, the hulk out in first place with a 34% larger mining rate over the rokh which would have to theoretically get hold of 5 aoedes and be able to fit them with his eight miner II (quite an expensive exercise and long return on investment in itself).
Long and short being we have listened, we have crunched and unticked the stacking nerf box. Sisi should be updated within a week or so but as ever with the sisi disclaimer, do not take anything as concrete on the test server until we state we are at a release candidate with certain features of the patch.
